While we were away on vacation, we had a friend take care of our yard and our garden. This young man is my son's friend, who is 17 years old. All we asked him to do was water our yard and feed our dog. However, what he and his mom did while we were gone was way more than we expected, and such a nice surprise when we returned home. Friends like these are a rare treasure...
We were planning to mow the day we returned, but we found this young man had already taken care of it, as he thought we wouldn't want that chore right when we got home. He was right...and thoughtful. One of our trees had sheds its bark profusely in the backyard, and he had picked it up and discarded it. This was nice...and helpful. His mom came with him and noticed some of our annuals had died in our garden, so she planted some new flowers and placed a new ornamental pepper plant on our patio table. This was so sweet...and hard work in the heat! Our yard was green, our garden looked better than it did when we left, and it was all because these friends just enjoyed giving. This was amazing...simply amazing.
I don't know many people like Ryne and his mom, Loralee. They truly enjoyed taking care of our yard for us, and found pleasure in giving. They didn't do the least they could do, they didn't grumble and they didn't tell us what they had done. They went beyond what we had asked and they did it with joy. And best of all, they let us discover these blessings on our own, which was so fun!
There are still some great parents out there who are raising great kids, and I am pleased to call them friends...
